Vision House

Vision House offers apartment housing for HIV-positive individuals and their families in Chicago. The program was established seven years ago by a partnership between Interfaith Housing Development Corporation of Chicago, Liberty Baptist Church, Cook County Hospital's HIV Primary Care Center and Provident Hospital. Vision House, which is targeted at Chicago's African-American community -- which accounts for 36% of the city population but 64% of its recently diagnosed HIV cases and 66% of its recently diagnosed AIDS cases -- also provides drug counseling, support groups and mental health services to its 53 residents (Terry, Chicago Tribune, 2/29).
