Link Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network
The Battered Women’s Network is dedicated to improving the lives of battered women and their children. The Network utilizes 3 major strategies to achieve its mission: by leading advocacy efforts for systems change and speaking as the collective voice of the domestic violence community; by offering trainings and creating materials to improve knowledge on domestic violence issues; and by creating a membership forum for ongoing information exchange and collaborations within the domestic violence services community. The Network is a coalition to change and improve the organizational responses that domestic violence victims encounter. Public policy and systems change advocacy remains the Network’s primary strategy. Through seven working committees, with participants representing the Chicagoland domestic violence community, the Network formulates a community approach and presents a united voice to governmental and administrative agencies. In addition to committee work, the Network works to achieve its mission through the work of two programs: the Centralized Training Institute (CTI) and the City of Chicago’s Domestic Violence Help Line.
